「ドイツ連邦軍軍楽隊」の
チャリティーコンサートに
招待していただきました
最前列には各国の要人が並び、
夫は日本大使館の代表として中央席に…
その隣で、私と慧も静かに座っていました…
長男、慧にとっては、
「父が外交官として働く姿」を初めて見る夜…
会場の空気が少し誇らしくて、少し緊張して…
Duolingoで覚えたほんの少しのドイツ語が、
ふと耳に届いて意味を結んだ瞬間——
「あ、わかる。」
そんな小さな奇跡が、嬉しかったな
プログラムに書かれたタイトルは
印象的な一行…

重い歴史の上に、
ひとさじのユーモアを。
まるで今のベルリンのように。
ベルリン城の再建を支援する
チャリティーシリーズの一環として
開催されたこの夜…
戦争と破壊を経て、
国民の寄付だけで蘇った「ベルリン城」…
その奇跡のような物語に、
音楽が花を添えていました…
この演奏は、ただの音楽ではなく、
人と時代をつなぐ「感謝のシンフォニー」…
音楽が、文化と心をもう一度結び直す——
そんな夜でした。

At the Berlin Philharmonie
Our second night in Berlin.
I was invited, as the wife of Minister Ishimaru,
to a charity concert by the German Armed Forces Band at the Berlin Philharmonie.
In the front row sat dignitaries from many nations.
My husband, representing Japan,
took the central seat—
and our son Kei and I sat beside him.
For Kei, it was the first time
to see his father at work as a diplomat.
Pride and awe filled the air.
Tiny words of German I’d learned on Duolingo
suddenly made sense in the conversations—
and I smiled to myself.
A quiet, little miracle.
The program’s title caught my heart:

“On top—but please, with whipped cream!”
A touch of humor layered on a deep history.
That’s Berlin.
The concert was part of a charity series
supporting the rebirth of the Berlin Palace,
rebuilt entirely by citizens’ donations—
over €110 million.
A miracle of will and beauty.
That night’s music was a symphony of gratitude, binding people and time together.
Music, once again, became the bridge.
